HİDİV KASRI

Hidiv Kasrı (Khedive Mansion), which stands in the middle of a large wood, full of trees, each of which has identification tags and pedigrees, has a wonderful Bosphorus scenery. The Hidiv Kasrı, which is located at the upper part of Beykoz Çubuklu, virtually reminds of a palace. Its construction order was given in the year 1907 by the last Khedive of Ottoman Egypt Abbas Hilmi Pasha, and it was constructed by Italian architect Delfo Seminati. The building, which was made in the art-nouveau style, in conformity with the day’s trends, has one of the first steam-powered elevators of İstanbul.

A marble fountain exists in the middle of the main entrance of the Hidiv Kasrı, which was built on a surface of area of 1.000 square meters. It is followed by other fountains and ponds inside the building. In the structure whose ceiling is covered in stained glass, there are two big bedrooms, attracting attention with their wainscots, interior washrooms and bathrooms. Alongside the hall, which includes a fireplace, located in the ground flor, another characteristic of the building is its tower, which has a commanding view of the Bosphorus. The tower, which may be reached through both elevator and stairs, has a balconied middle-floor and an open-top terrace. The Hidiv Kasrı, which lies on a garden of 270 dunam, is operated as restaurant by Beltur, which displays activity under the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality. This historical building, which has one of the largest rose gardens of İstanbul, also acts as host for organizations such as wedding, seminar and meeting.
